CM of Goa calls for CBI to be given Sonali Phogat death case amid growing demand

Goa’s chief minister, Pramod Sawant, announced on Monday that the CBI would be given the case involving the death of BJP leader Sonali Phogat in response to mounting pressure. He emphasized that the Haryana government and the family of the BJP politician, who passed away last month, have made persistent demands in this regard.

The Sonali Phogat death case has been turned over to the CBI. It should be sent to the federal agency because we have been receiving repeated requests for it from Haryana and her family, Sawant said. Later today, he said, “I shall write to Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding this.”

Sonali Phogat, an actor and politician from Haryana, was discovered dead in Goa last month. Even though a heart attack was initially listed as the cause of death, her relatives suspected foul play. Later, a probe into drug overdose deaths was started.
