Clashes reported in Jodhpur ahead of Eid; internet suspended

Chief minister Ashok Gehlot described the skirmishes in Rajasthan’s Jodhpur as “unfortunate.” According to ANI, Internet services in the area have been temporarily halted.

After a quarrel over hoisting flags in the Jalori Gate area, clashes occurred between two tribes in Rajasthan’s Jodhpur on Monday night, ahead of Eid.


To prevent rumours from spreading, internet services have been blocked in Jodhpur, and the Eid namaz has been offered under police protection.

At least four police officers were hurt in the early hours of Tuesday, according to the news agency PTI.

“The stone-throwing resulted in the injuries of four police officers. To keep the situation under control, a large police force was deployed in the region “The agency was informed by a police control room officer.

“Unfortunately, tension has emerged as a result of a conflict between two groups at Jodhpur’s Jalori Gate. “Peace and order must be maintained at all costs,” the chief minister tweeted in Hindi.

“Respecting the tradition of love and fraternity of Jodhpur, Marwar, I make a poignant appeal to all to maintain peace and participate in the creation of law and order,” he wrote in another post.
