Paramilitary forces and the Delhi police have blocked the Congress’s march from Vijay Chowk to Rashtrapati Bhawan. Several party leaders including Rahul Gandhi and Shashi Tharoor have been detained.
Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor tweeted about detainment during a peaceful protest against the anti-people policies of the current dispensation along with other Congress MPs. Prohibitory orders were issued in Delhi today morning to prevent the demonstrations.
“Despite protesting peacefully, with no hint of violence or misbehaviour, (tagging the official Indian National Congress) INC MPs have been detained at Vijay Chowk & are being carted off to a police station. This is unnecessary & undemocratic”.
Congress leader Sri Rahul Gandhi and Shashi Tharoor were detained by police during a protest against the Central government on issues of inflation, unemployment, and GST on food items Friday, they marched from Parliament to Rashtrapati Bhavan.
