Delhi: Woman sedated, gang raped in a spa; 4 arrested

An official reported on Saturday that two men are suspected of sedated and gang raping a 22-year-old lady who works at a spa in the nation’s capital. The official also added that four others have been detained in connection with the incident. Owners Brij Gopal and Sandeep, as well as Rahul, the spa’s manager, and Satish Kumar, a client, were among those detained.

Usha Rangnani, the deputy commissioner of police for the north-west, released details. She said that after receiving a PCR call at the Maurya Enclave police station of a woman being sexually assaulted at the Pitampura spa, the police rushed to the scene.

The victim reported that the manager of the spa and another person had sexually assaulted her, according to DCP Rangnani. She joined the “Ocean Spa Centre” on July 30, and according to the woman’s complaint, on August 4 at around 6 p.m., a person arrived and sought a sexual favour. A cold drink was provided to her by the accused manager. Both of them raped her after she consumed it, the senior officer claimed, and she became woozy.

A counsellor from the Delhi Commission for Women was contacted after the incident was reported to the police, and the woman was transported to the hospital for a physical examination.

In response, the police promptly detained Rahul and Satish Kumar and filed a FIR under sections 354A (Sexual harassment and penalty for sexual harassment), 328 (Causing hurt by means of poison, etc., with intent to commit an offence), and 376 D (gang rape) of the Indian Penal Code.

The owner’s MCD licence, according to the official, “has been intimated to the competent civic office to terminate the licence and shut the premises,” she added.

The owners, Brij Gopal and Sandeep, were also taken into custody after the police later filed a case under section 188 of the IPC against Ocean Spa Centre for violating rules.
