Countering the $2 million damages awarded to ex-wife Amber Heard; Johnny Depp fires back

The jury in the defamation trial against Johnny Depp awarded Amber Heard $2 million in damages. Depp has now countered that in a new appeal.

The defamation case involving Johnny Depp and Amber Heard became one of the most talked-about topics. The lawsuit Depp brought against his ex-wife Amber Heard was ultimately successful. It appears like the drama won’t stop anytime soon. The $2 million defamation judgement handed down to his ex-wife Amber Heard by the Virginia jury at their June trial has now been appealed by Johnny Depp.

This information was released one day after Amber officially announced her intention to appeal the judgement in Johnny’s defamation case against her. In a 2018 Washington Post article, Amber Heard claimed she had survived domestic abuse. Johnny Depp had sued her for defaming him.

JOHNNY DEPP COUNTERS DAMAGES AWARDED TO AMBER HEARD

According to Deadline, Johnny Depp has appealed the $2 million defamation award in documents submitted to Fairfax County. Amber Heard received this sum of money as part of the jury’s verdict at their trial last month in Virginia. The four-page notice of appeal stated that the plaintiff and counterclaim-defendant, John C. Depp, II, “hereby appeals to the Court of Appeals of Virginia from all adverse judgments and from the final judgment order of this Circuit Court entered on June 24, 2022.”

According to Deadline, Johnny’s appeal is a reaction to Amber’s appeal from July 21 and aims to recover the $2 million prize the Virginia jury awarded Amber in her $100 million countersuit against Johnny and his 2019 $50 million case.
