The WH Summoned Chinese Ambassador To Condemned Beijing’s “Irresponsible” Military Action

The Biden administration summoned Chinese ambassador Qin Gang to the White House on Thursday. In the meeting with NSC’s (National Security Council) Kurt Campbell, the US condemned Beijing’s “irresponsible” military actions and told Qin they are of concern to Taiwan, the US, and partners around the world.

The summon of China’s ambassador by the US was to lodge a protest against actions it called irresponsible and at odds with maintaining peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait, national security spokesman John Kirby said on August 5.

Earlier on Thursday, China launched its hugest ever military drills in the seas and skies around Taiwan, a day after US House of Representatives Speaker Pelosi incited Beijing by becoming the highest-level US visitor to the island in 25 years. The live-fire drills are scheduled to continue until noon on Sunday.

The United States condemned China’s actions and called them irresponsible and in the expectation of maintaining peace across the Taiwan Strait.

“We also made clear that the United States is prepared for what Beijing chooses to do. We will not seek and do not want a crisis,” Kirby said.
