Cyclone Sitrang drops temperatures in Northeast India

Almost the whole region of Northeastern India had moderate to severe rains as a result of Cyclone Sitrang. Nevertheless, that was not the only impact the cyclonic disturbance had on the local weather during the Diwali festival. The region is now set for winter to arrive after the cyclone dissipated.

On Monday, the Bangladeshi coast was hit by Cyclone Sitrang. Additionally, the cyclone's accompanying wind and rain storm caused a drop in temperature throughout the affected area. Even though the rains started to lessen on Wednesday, there will still be some light showers and cloudy skies on Thursday in certain areas. The weather should clear up by Friday, according to the Indian Meteorology Agency.

Over the next 24 hours, Assam, Meghalaya, and Tripura are expected to see shallow to moderate fog. The department said that evening temperatures dropped "markedly" in Tripura and "appreciably" in Mizoram.

However, Assam is still experiencing flooding in some areas as a result of the recent rainy periods. Large swathes of farmed land were submerged by the middle of the month in neighbouring Arunachal Pradesh due to heavy rainfall. When the typhoon inflicted more harm in the state, the water still hadn't completely dried.
