Earlier only five cities have metro services, now UP alone have five metro services; PM
The completed part of the 11,000 crore Kanpur Metro Rail Project in poll-bound Uttar Pradesh was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday.
PM Modi, who was accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, rode the Metro train from IIT-Kanpur to Geeta Nagar in the city for just over 10 minutes.
On his way to the Bina-Panki Multiproduct Pipeline Project, where vital development projects will be launched,” Prime Minister Modi tweeted on Tuesday. “Today, Kanpur acquired metro connectivity,” Modi stated as he addressed the Pipeline Project’s opening. For this accomplishment, I congratulate you and the entire state of Uttar Pradesh.”
Only five cities had metro services prior to 2014, according to the Prime Minister. He went on to say that Uttar Pradesh now alone possesses metro services in five cities. Modi also shared his experience, saying that the metro ride he had earlier in the day was a memorable one. Before 2014, the total length of metro functioning in Uttar Pradesh was 9 kilometres. “From 2014 to 2017, the metro’s length grew to 18 kilometres.” If the Kanpur Metro is included, the total length of metro in Uttar Pradesh currently exceeds 90 kilometres.” he added.
Kanpur Metro Rail Project’s completed 9-kilometer segment runs from IIT-Kanpur to Moti Jheel. The Metro project is 32 kilometres long and costs Rs 11,000 crore to construct.
