Elon Musk offers proposal to resolve China-Taiwan tensions
Billionaire Elon Musk has now proposed a solution to the tensions between China and Taiwan, days after he floated a possible agreement to settle the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. Musk said that “handing over some control of Taiwan to Beijing” could ease tensions in an interview with the media outlet “The Financial Times.”
Musk said “think out a special administrative zone for Taiwan that is relatively tolerable, definitely won’t make everyone happy” after calling the battle over Taiwan “inevitable.” The publication quoted Musk as stating, “And it’s possible, and I think probably, in fact, that they might have an arrangement that’s more liberal than Hong Kong.”
Volodymyr Zelensky, the president of Ukraine, and Elon Musk got into a Twitter argument on Tuesday after the Tesla CEO requested feedback on a proposal to stop Russia’s war in Ukraine. Musk suggested UN-supervised elections in four occupied districts that Moscow tried to annex last week after what it dubbed “referendums” in a Twitter poll. He also suggested that Ukraine permanently give Crimea to Russia, a proposal that was met with a strong response from Ukrainians.
