After a 22-year-old lady of African descent who was residing in the southern part of the national capital tested positive of moneypox on Friday, Delhi has now reported its fifth incidence of the disease. A month before, the woman had taken a trip to Africa.
The United States is one of the worst-hit nations in the world, and Europe is one of the worst-hit continents.
This year, more than 31,000 cases have been reported worldwide in more than 80 nations that have never previously reported the virus. Over 11,000 cases have already been reported in the US alone.
In Parliament earlier this month, Mansukh Mandaviya, the union health minister, allayed fears about the virus’s spread.
