Two people were buried alive under debris following a landslide in the Kullu region of Himachal Pradesh as a result of today’s torrential rains, while in other areas, flash floods washed away businesses and vehicles and obstructed roadways.
Chavelu Devi (55), and Kritika (17), both of Kullu, died when their home in Khadel village, Sheel gramme panchayat, Anni tehsil, was struck by rubble after the landslide at around 9 am, according to Sudesh Mokhta, director of state disaster management department.
Another occurrence in the area occurred at around 7.30 am when a cloudburst at the Deuthi gramme panchayat in the Anni tehsil resulted in the loss of 10 stores and three cars. The official reported that during the intense downpours at Diyandali Nullah in Chopal tehsil, three small automobiles and a pickup truck were washed away in the Shimla district. He claimed that a landslide in the morning had closed the Mandi-Kullu national route in the Mandi district.
According to Mr. Mokhta, a cloudburst incident in Chamba district resulted in the loss of a crasher, two compressor machines, and a construction company’s shop near Ala Nullah in Bharmour tehsil.
National Highway-3 is blocked in the Lahaul-Spiti district. After flash floods at Telling nullah in the Lahaul subdivision, there is a flood-like condition and stones are continuously falling near Kuthbihal, he continued.
According to the authority, road restoration work is currently underway.
In addition, he added, state highway number 26 was shut down due to a flash flood at Sindhwari nullah in the Lahaul-Spiti district’s Udaipur subdivision.
