Another violence over the Al Jazeera journalist, who has been shot to death on Wednesday by Israeli military while her team were covering on a military raid in the West Bank city of Jenin. Saheen Abu Akleh was a Palestinian Christian as a ritual she has been taking to the burial sit in which the chaos erupted when people who came to attend the funeral pelted stones over the Israeli police on duty and in retaliation the police forces flashes the bomb and released the tear gas.
The hundreds of mourners had marched from Jerusalem’s Jaffa Gate to Mount Zion Cemetery on Friday in Jerusalem while thousands of people attended the burial of veteran Al Jazeera journalist who was shot two days earlier.
The incident took place at the St. Joseph hospital complex in east Jerusalem when the coffin has brought out of the hospital to the burial site when they just step out of the hospital the Israeli police blocked the road and started to beating the people who processing carrying the coffin in Jerusalem and for several times the coffin was literally fall to the ground. Israeli police lined up blocked the road and compelled them to transport the body by car. A flash bomb and tear gas were fired. Therefore, the body has to take back inside the hospital and then transported by car according to CNN reporters.
Muslims performed Friday prayers and mourners demanded to marched on foot to carry Abu Akleh’s coffin and transported on foot from the hospital to the Greek Catholic church, where a service will be held, and then to the burial site.
Israeli police in a statement said that “hundreds of rioters began to disrupt public order, even before the funeral began,” as they worked to secure the procession.
“Hundreds of individuals gathered outside the French hospital (St. Joseph hospital) in Sheikh Jarrah and began chanting nationalist incitement,” added the statement.
“Towards the exit of the casket from the hospital, rioters began throwing stones toward the policemen from the French hospital plaza, and the policemen were forced to act”.
