Grenade Attack on Security Personnel in Srinagar: 4 injured
Militants fired a grenade at security officers in the bustling Hari Singh High Street section of the city on Tuesday, officials reported, injuring four people, including a police officer and two women, a day before Republic Day celebrations.
At around 3.30 p.m., the ultras tossed the grenade at a team of security men on Hari Singh High Street, they added, adding that the grenade burst near the wayside. The explosion harmed four people. Mohammad Shafi, his wife Tanveera, and another woman Asmat have been recognized as police inspector Tanveer Hussain, who is assigned to ACB.
The injured were taken to a hospital, where their condition was described as stable, according to officials. The area has been blocked off by security personnel, who have begun searching for ultras.
To ensure a smooth Republic Day celebration, security has been ramped up in the city and around the valley.
