Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, the lead actors in the film Brahmastra, were denied entry to the historic Mahakaeshwar Temple in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, on Tuesday night by Bajrang Dal activists because of the Sanju actor’s reported comments about beef-eating in the past.
According to a Mahakaleshwar police station official who confirmed the incident, the demonstrators were dispersed with cane charges.
According to witnesses, the demonstrators refused not let the real-life couple inside the temple grounds despite the cane charge.
As the actors entered the temple grounds to get darshan, Bajrang Dal members shouted “Jai Shriram.”
Ankit Choube, the leader of the Bajrang Dal, told reporters, “We would not permit them to pray at the holy Mahakaleshwar temple as a few days before Ranbir had revealed that he liked to eat mutton, poultry, and beef in non-vegetarian food.”
He added that even Alia had stated that those who are interested in seeing her film Brahmastra should go, while others who are not interested should skip it.
According to the police official, they have taken action against a right-wing activist under section 353 of the Indian Penal Code (attack or criminal force to prevent a public officer from performing his duty).
