The BCCI declares that all contracted Indian women cricketers would be subject to a pay equity policy. Male and female cricket players will both pay the same match price. In a historic move to advance gender equality in the most popular sport in the country, the Board of Control for Cricket in India decided on Thursday.

"Pay equity policy" for contracted Indian women cricketers has been enacted by BCCI Honorary Secretary Jay Shah.

Male and female cricket players will both receive the same match price.

Shah posted on Twitter to share the important decision: "It gives me great pleasure to announce that @BCCI has taken the first step in combating discrimination. Our contracted @BCCIWomen cricketers will now be subject to a pay equity policy. As we enter a new era of gender equality in cricket, the match price will be the same for male and women players ".
