Theodore Roosevelt Jr., often referred to as Teddy or his initials T. R., was an American politician, statesman, conservationist, naturalist, historian, and writer who served as the 26th president of the United States from 1901 to 1909.
In 1880, Roosevelt married socialite Alice Hathaway Lee, she gave birth to a daughter, Alice Lee Roosevelt who was born on February 12, 1884. Two days later, the new mother died of an undiagnosed case of kidney failure that had been masked by the pregnancy. His mother, Mittie, had died of typhoid fever eleven hours earlier at 3:00 a.m., in the same house on 57th street in Manhattan.
His grief of the loss of his loved ones within hours apart broke him inside totally that sorrowful diary mentioned his suffering.
