India summoned a top diplomat from Pakistan’s High Commission on Monday, sharply condemning the death of fishermen in a maritime security agency shooting. On November 6, 2021, the Pakistani agency opened fire on the Indian fishing boat ‘Jalpari,’ killing one Indian fisherman and seriously injuring another.
The Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) fired at an Indian fisherman’s boat along the international maritime boundary line in the Arabian Sea off the Gujarat coast, killing him. A minor injury was sustained by one of the seven crew members aboard the boat, and he is being treated at a hospital in Gujarat’s Okha.

Sridhar Ramesh Chamre, a 32-year-old fisherman from Thane, Maharashtra, was killed on the evening of November 7 after PMSA personnel opened fire on him and other crew members aboard the fishing boat ‘Jalpari.’
The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) said in a statement, “The situation is currently being investigated by police, and the crew is being interviewed together. Only until the investigation is completed may details be revealed.”
Pakistan on the other hand stated that the boat had “illegally transgressed” into its territorial seas in a statement. According to the statement, the PMSA sought to “warn” the Indian boat but fired when it ignored them.
