India condemns Bucha killings blamed on Russia; Calls for impartial probe

India has denounced the massacre of civilians in Bucha, Ukraine, and backed a call for an impartial probe into the tragedy, marking the first time that New Delhi has openly condemned Russian soldiers’ actions.

TS Tirumurti, the Indian envoy to the UN, denounced reports of civilian fatalities in Bucha as “very disturbing” during a meeting of the United Nations Security Council attended by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

“We absolutely condemn these assassinations and endorse the request for an impartial investigation,” Tirumurti added, without mentioning Russia.

Since the previous time the Security Council examined the situation in Ukraine, there has been no “substantial progress.” “Both the security situation and the humanitarian ramifications have simply gotten worse,” he added.
