India’s Gautam Adani Overtakes Bill Gates; Becomes 4th Richest Man In The World

According to Forbes’ Real-Time Billionaires List, Indian industrialist Gautam Adani has surpassed Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates to become the world’s fourth richest person. On Thursday, the 60-year-old business magnate’s nett worth surpassed Mr Gates’, which stands at $104.6 billion.

On the list, Mukesh Ambani ranks 10th with a fortune of $90 billion.

It is the Chairman of the Adani Group who has transformed a small commodities trading business into a conglomerate encompassing ports, mines, and green energy companies.

Bloomberg reported recently that Adani Group’s listed shares have soared more than 600% in the past two years as Prime Minister Modi looks to revive India’s $2.9 trillion economy and meet the country’s carbon net-zero target by 2070.

According to reports that Adani has acquired control of seven airports in just three years, and controls almost a quarter of the country’s air traffic. Adani now owns the country’s largest airport operator, power generator, and city gas retailer outside the public sector.

The Adani Group is involved in infrastructure, commodities, power generation and transmission, as well as real estate.

On his 60th birthday, the Adani Group chief has pledged to donate Rs 60,000 crore to social causes.

Health, education, and skill development will be the primary goals of the donation corpus, which will be managed by the Adani Foundation.
