According to Afghan security and health officials, three explosions hit a high school in western Kabul on Tuesday, killing numerous people.
“Three bombs have occurred… in a high school, and our Shia people have suffered some casualties,” said Khalid Zadran, a spokesman for Kabul’s commander.
At least four people were killed and 14 others were injured in the blasts, according to the chief of a hospital nursing department.
The blasts occurred at the Abdul Rahim Shahid high school, according to Kabul police spokesman Khalid Zadran on Twitter, and “inflicted injuries among our Shiite brothers.”
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the incident.
The event occurred while the pupils were leaving their classes, according to reports. Since taking power in August, the Taliban claim to have secured the country, but international authorities and analysts warn there is still a risk of militancy resurging, and the Islamic State militant group has claimed responsibility for numerous significant attacks.
