Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi, most recently took aim at the BJP by criticizing the Gujarat Appellate Authority of Advance Ruling for its most recent ruling that parathas are distinct from simple chapati or roti and claimed that even the British did not tax food. The decision stated that parathas are subject to an 18% GST. After a food manufacturer filed an appeal about the 18% GST on packed parathas, a new decision was made in September. Since the 18% GST on parathas remained a contentious subject and numerous appeals were made against it, similar decisions have been issued by the relevant state agencies.
Kejriwal shared a news article about the decision, saying, “Food goods were not subject to tax even under British rule. The high central government-imposed GST is the main cause of inflation in the nation today. It ought to be curbed, and people ought to get rid of inflation.”
This occurs at a time when the BJP and the AAP are at odds over the upcoming Gujarat state election. In response to criticism of his “abusive” remarks, Gopal Italia, the leader of the AAP-BJP, was briefly held in Delhi on Thursday.
