The Darbhanga unit of the Bajrang Dal has threatened to start a movement against ‘love jihad’ from Friday.
This was announced after two cousin sisters from Darbhanga eloped with two youths from the Muslim community and got married in a mosque in Kolkata a few weeks ago.
The family members of the girls registered an FIR against their boyfriends under the IPC section of kidnapping. The Darbhanga police managed to arrest the two youths on December 16 and produced them in the district court which sent them to 14 days judicial custody.
The family members of the two girls launched a protest following the incident, according to Anand Prakash Madhukar, the President of Darbhanga’s Bajrang Dal unit, and the Darbhanga police detained the two youngsters under pressure from the girls’ families.
“One of the girls’ mental health is unstable. Even so, the girl was eloped with by the teenager from the neighbouring community. This appears to be done on purpose, which falls under the category of love jihad, according to Madhukar
When a case involving two girls marrying two boys of different religions came to light in Darbhanga, Bihar, a case of love jihad was registered. Following that, the girl’s relatives accused the youngster of kidnapping the girls and forcing them to change religion. The girl and the boy were then arrested and sent to court. Both girls are cousins, according to the report.
Darbhanga SDPO Krishnanandan Kumar said that the matter of two females going missing from the Singhwada police station area of Darbhanga had come to light, and the police had been hunting for them ceaselessly. Eventually, both the girls and two boys were apprehended.
“Cases like this are becoming more common in the country. We need a strong law to combat them. Under the guise of love jihad, members of the other community engaged in purposeful relationships with Hindu girls, marrying them and compelling them to leave their religion. The little girls are oblivious to the implications of their actions. “The basic concept behind love jihad is to torture Hindu ladies after they marry,” Madhukar explained.
An FIR under the IPC section of kidnapping was registered in the district’s Singwara police station, according to Krishna Nandan Kumar, Darbhanga (Sadar) Sub-Divisional Police Officer.
“The culprit has been apprehended, and the two females have been located in Kolkata.” “After marrying the two accused men, the girls changed their religion,” the official noted.
“We’ve decided to establish a movement in the neighborhood to raise awareness about the dangers of love jihad,” said the group. We also want to draw the attention of state and federal governments to the need for strict anti-love jihad legislation, stated the President of Darbhanga’s Bajrang Dal unit.
