Adar Poonawalla, CEO of the Serum Institute of India (SII), stated on Wednesday that “Made in India” Covid-19 vaccinations offer better protection against coronavirus infection than mRNA vaccines from Pfizer and Moderna.
“The Covid-19 vaccines, which are developed in India, provide higher protection against the disease than mRNA vaccines like Pfizer and Moderna,” the SII CEO told ANI.
“It’s good that vaccinations like Pfizer and Moderna aren’t offered in India,” Poonawala explained, “because in countries like the United States, individuals have taken second and third booster doses and yet many people are becoming infected with Corona,” he added. When asked about the Covishield Covid-19 vaccine’s export status, the SII CEO stated that India had so far exported it to over 80 nations.
