Manipur: Schools Closed Till July 24 As State Witnesses Surge In New COVID-19 Cases

“As Covid-19 cases increase and the test positivity rate ratio is over 15 per cent in the state, all schools (Govt/Private) of the state will remain closed till July 24,” a notification issued by the Manipur government stated.

All schools in Manipur have been asked to remain close until July 24 due to a dramatic increase of new COVID19 cases in the state, according to Imphal. On Tuesday, the Manipuri government issued directives in this regard. All public and private schools in the state will be closed through July 24 because of the rising number of Covid-19 instances and the state’s test positivity rate ratio, which is already over 15%.


The state health bulletin stated that Manipur on Tuesday recorded 59 new COVID-19 cases, whereas, on Monday, 47 people tested positive.
Manipur also saw 15 recoveries in the previous 24 hours, according to the State’s Directorate of Health Services. While the state has seen 57,264 recoveries. In the state with a 15.6% COVID-19 positivity rate, 2,120 persons have already died from the virus.


The number of Coronavirus cases in India rose by 13,615 in the previous day, bringing the total to 4,36,52,944. While there have been 20 more fatalities in the past 24 hours, bringing the total death toll to 5,25,474.
According to data from the Union Health Ministry, the number of active cases rose to 1,31,043. The Ministry reported that the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.50%, while the active cases make up 0.30 percent of all infections.

An increase of 330 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours.
