The state government has ordered the three Autonomous District Councils to close any illegal checkpoints and has threatened to take legal action against those who do not comply.
“We had a meeting with the three district council CEMs, and I advised them that all illegal check gates should be closed,” said the official. “Those who do not comply will face appropriate punishment,” Home Minister Lahkmen Rymbui warned on Thursday. Titosstarwell Chyne, the KHADC CEM, stated that he has asked his officers to close all unauthorized gates.
A KHADC inspection team has also discovered the unlawful gates that will be shut down, according to Chyne.
“I don’t have the data right now,” he replied when asked how many unlawful gates have been detected. “But the work goes on.”
