Meghalaya CM to meet MHA today to select interlocutor for talks with HNLC…

Conrad Sangma, Meghalaya’s Chief Minister, will travel to Delhi to meet with officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs to finalize the selection of an interlocutor for talks with the HNLC. On Monday, Meghalaya’s chief minister announced this.

The CM’s statement comes just a day after the HNLC wrote to the government to indicate its intention to engage in peace negotiations. The HNLC, on the other hand, has urged the government to appoint a mediator. Meanwhile, the CM stated that a few people have been shortlisted for the interlocutor force and that the selection process would begin once the MHA approves the list.

According to Sangma, the administration is quite optimistic about the development, and the government has already begun preliminary exercises based on the HNLC’s press release.

Sangma added that, in addition to meeting with other officials, he would meet with the MHA to finalize strategies for the development.

Meanwhile, Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh stated at a public forum in Manipur on Monday that the Centre is prepared to have discussions with terrorist organizations in the Northeastern state in order to restore sustainable peace to the entire region.
