A horrific tragedy occurred in Shillong, the state capital of Meghalaya. Meghalaya Police have filed a case against a senior faculty member at the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) in Shillong for allegedly assaulting her domestic assistant with a wooden bat, officials said on Saturday.
The victim suffered serious injuries in the attack and was sent to NEIGRIHMS, they said.
They said the event happened about three days ago and was brought up immediately after the maid was admitted to the institute.
“A notice under Section 41A is being issued to Juleemoni Bharali following the registration of a case against her based on the enquiry into the event that resulted in the hospitalisation of her maid,” a senior police officer told PTI.
The officer stated that additional investigation is underway. (PTI)
