Meghalaya's Tura is hit by an earthquake of 3.4 magnitude

The National Center for Seismology reported that a 3.4-magnitude earthquake struck near Tura in Meghalaya early on Thursday. The earthquake occurred 5 kilometres below the surface of the earth.
The NCS reports that 37 kilometres to the east and northeast of Tura experienced tectonic plate movement around 3:46 am.

The earthquake has not yet been linked to any recorded fatalities. The Government of India's principal organisation for tracking seismic activity throughout the nation is the National Center for Seismology (NCS).
