MSN web portal reports that Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador wants to create a UN commission of three world leaders, including Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to promote a five-year world truce.
“I will write the proposal and bring it to the UN. I’ve said it before, and I’m hoping the media will help us spread it. They don’t speak when it’s convenient for them “Obrador said this during a news conference, according to MSN.
The Mexican President requested that the top commision include Pope Francis, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The commission’s goal would be to offer a proposal to end global hostilities and secure an agreement to seek a five-year truce.
“The three of them meet and soon present a proposal to stop the war everywhere, and reach an agreement to seek a truce of at least five years, so that governments around the world dedicate themselves to support their peoples, especially the people who are suffering the most from the war and its effects; that we have five years without tension, without violence and with peace,” he said.
As he encouraged Chinese, Russian, and American leaders to seek peace, Mexico’s president hoped all three countries would listen and accept the proposed intermediation.
