Jyotiraditya Scindia, who headed for Bucharest, Romania’s capital, on Tuesday to assist with the evacuation of Indians stranded in Ukraine, said: “For arriving Indian students, Moldova’s borders have been opened. Shelter and food will be provided in a proper manner. They’re in the process of making plans for their trip to Bucharest, where they’ll catch a flight to India.”
India is making every effort to remove its residents from Ukraine, which is in the midst of a civil conflict. Prime Minister Narendra Modi convened a high-level review meeting. Over the following three days, more planes will be arranged to bring Indian citizens back from Ukraine. Modi stated that the safety of Indian nationals and their evacuation are his top priorities.
As part of Operation Ganga, the mission code for the evacuation of Indians from Ukraine, five Air India wide-body planes – four to Bucharest and one to Budapest – and two IndiGo flights, one each to Budapest and Bucharest, will fly until March 2. The Indian Air Force launched a C-17 mission to evacuate Indians stranded in Ukraine.
