Mumbai teacher dies after getting stuck between moving lift doors at school
Police in Mumbai reported that a teacher, age 26, passed away after becoming trapped in a school lift. The event was reported on Friday from St. Mary’s English High School in the North Mumbai neighbourhood of Malad, which is located at Chincholi Bunder.
Around 1 pm, police reported that Jenel Fernandes was waiting on the sixth floor to descend to the staff area on the second floor. The doors to the lift closed on her as soon as she stepped inside, according to authorities. Vishal Thakur, zone 11 deputy commissioner of police, stated that once the woman entered the elevator, the doors shut behind her and the lift began to move, leaving her stuck.
She was carried outside when the school personnel hurried to help, but she was badly hurt. She was taken urgently to a private hospital, where staff members pronounced her already dead. “In the course of the initial investigation, we reported an accidental fatality. We will respond appropriately if there is any wrongdoing “said the police officer.
