Plans to donate the majority of Jeff Bezos' riches to charity causes have been announced

Jeff Bezos, the creator of Amazon and one of the richest men in the world, has disclosed his long-term goals for his enormous wealth.

In an interview with CNN, the billionaire reportedly stated that he intends to give the majority of his riches to charitable causes throughout his lifetime, according to Variety.

According to Forbes, Bezos is the fourth richest person in the world with an estimated net worth of USD 124.1 billion.

Variety stated that Bezos revealed that the majority of his gifts will go to organisations that may bring mankind together in the face of severe social and political conflicts during the CNN interview with Chloe Melas on Monday.

He claimed that giving back "is incredibly hard" and that "we're building the capacity to be able to give this money away," according to the site.

Along with the Washington Post and the aerospace firm Blue Origin, Bezos, who resigned as CEO of Amazon in July 2021, holds little under 10% of the company's shares.

The Bezos Earth Fund, which he established to give USD 10 billion over 10 years to scientists, activists, and non-governmental groups "to assist conserve and defend the natural world," was launched by Jeff Bezos in 2020 as part of his humanitarian efforts.

This Bezos philanthropy revelation comes amid rumours that Amazon is planning to let off about 10,000 workers this week.

According to people with knowledge of the situation, the layoff is one of the biggest in business history and is being done to concentrate on the company's devices organisation, retail division, and human resources, the New York Times said on Monday.
