Searches underway for 10 missing in Gomti and Ganga rivers in Uttar Pradesh
On Tuesday, the police claimed that 10 people were missing and believed to have drowned in two different instances that occurred in the Uttar Pradesh cities of Lucknow and Kanpur. While four young people went missing after the idol immersion in the Gomti river in Lucknow, six people, including four females, are believed to have drowned at Bilhaur in Kanpur. When the teenagers in Lucknow lost their balance in the boat during the idol immersion, they reportedly drowned.
Four girls in Kanpur dove into the water before slipping into the river. They were joined by two young people who dove into the river to save the girls. They are all gone. Senior police authorities are overseeing the divers as rescue efforts have begun at both locations.
