A plea was filed in the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court seeking the directions to the Archaeological Survey of India to probe the 20 closed doors in the Taj Mahal to ascertain the presence of the idols of Hindu deities.
Dr. Rajneesh Singh has filed a petition who is Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) media in-charged in the Ayodhya district, although the petition he files is yet to come up for hearing. Advocate Rudra Vikram has presented the petition in court.
“There is an old controversy related to the Taj Mahal. Around 20 rooms in the Taj Mahal are locked and no one is allowed to enter. It is believed that in these rooms there are idols of Hindu gods and scriptures” said Dr. Rajesh Singh.
“I have a petition in High Court Seeking directive to ASI to open these rooms to ascertain facts. There is no harm in opening these rooms and setting to rest all controversies”, said Singh.
Since 2020 Singh has been trying to ascertain facts about the locked rooms of Taj Mahal, he had filed an RTI. In which he wanted details about the locked rooms and directives to open them.
Some believed that the Taj Mahal to be Tejo Mahalaya, a Hindu temple.
