On Thursday, a three-day mega event to highlight the northeast region's tourism potential and promote interaction among government organisations, the business community, entrepreneurs, and other stakeholders will be launched in the Mizoram capital city of Aizawl.

Given that India will hold the G20 Presidency from December 1 to November 30 of the following year, the 10th International Tourism Mart (ITM) for the northeast region will also concentrate on "priorities of G20 for tourism track."

The event's opening session will be addressed by G Kishan Reddy, Minister of Culture and Tourism for the Union, in the evening. Interaction between buyers, vendors, the media, governmental organisations, and other stakeholders has been made easier by the event's planning. The tourism ministry announced on Wednesday that the ITM will bring together members of the tourism industry and business owners from the eight Northeastern states.

The official opening ceremony, which will be held at the R Dengthuama Indoor Stadium here, will be attended by Union minister Reddy, who oversees DoNER.

According to the ministry, Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga will also attend. The venue has been decorated with colourful posters promoting the eight northeastern states as top tourist destinations. Posters feature slogans like "Awesome Assam," "Land of Jewel," "Mesmerizing Meghalaya," and "Land of Dawn-lit Mountains" in addition to others.

The occasion will take place the day after India assumed control of the powerful group's chairmanship at the conclusion of the two-day G-20 summit in Bali, Indonesia.

The world is currently dealing with geopolitical unrest, a slowing economy, and rising food and energy prices, according to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who promised that India's G-20 presidency will be inclusive, ambitious, and action-oriented. During its one-year Presidency, which will culminate with an annual summit on September 9 and 10 of the following year, India is slated to host more than 200 G20 meetings.

India is planned to host the G20 meetings at 55 places across the nation during this time, from large metropolises to smaller towns, including those rich in history and natural beauty like Hampi and Khajuraho.

According to a top tourism ministry official, these places would also include Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities with beautiful landscapes and a strong cultural heritage. The official had stated, "So, we are doing a gathering at the Runn of Kutch, one in Siliguri, and there will be meetings at Hampi and Khajuraho as well.

Arvind Singh, the Union Tourism Secretary, recently stated that India intends to portray itself as a "major tourism destination" during its G20 Presidency.

In Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh, from September 18–20, a national conference of state tourism ministers was held.
