The remains of Brittenee Drexel has found after 13 years in South Carolina

Authorities in South Carolina have found the long-missing remains of Brittannee Drexel, a 17-year-old then went missing on a 2009 spring break trip to Myrtle Beach. A New York teenager who went missing 13 years ago, was found in South Carolina.

Georgetown Country Sheriff Carter Weaver announced during Monday’s press conference that Drexel’s body was found on May 11 and that person of interest Raymond Moody, 62, was charged with the murder.

Brittannee’s parents Chad Drexel and Dawn Drexel were present on Law Enforcement announcement, the mother told reporters, “This is truly a mother’s nightmare I’m mourning my beautiful daughter today as I have for the last 13 years.” Dawn added that her family is much closer to the peace that she has been hoping for.

In addition to murder charges, Moody is also charged with kidnapping and sexual misconduct with all of his alleged crimes taking place on April 25, 2009. Investigators believe that she was buried the following day. According to the investigation her remains were identified through dental records. The cause of death has not been disclosed.

Drexel was just a high school student when she left with friends to the beachside town in South Carolina with plans of visiting relatives. However, her parents have no idea she was traveling so far. Her mother previously told people that she did not know she was going.

According to Democrats and Chronicle Moody is a registered sex offender who spent 21 years in prison following in 1983 abduction and raped case in California involving a nine-year-old girl. His previous bond has been rebuked now being held without bail.
