Israel Defense Forces have identified and neutralized a terrorist tunnel dug by the terror group Hamas from the Gaza Strip towards Israel on Monday, 15 August. The tunnel was discovered as part of the ongoing efforts by Israel to uncover terrorist tunnels from Gaza, which pose a direct threat to Israelis.
The Yahalom special Combat Engineering unit and the Gaza Division of the IDF identified and neutralized a terrorist tunnel belonging to the Hamas terror organization.
News of the tunnel came just a week after the IDF completed Operation Breaking Dawn against Islamic Jihad. The army refrained from attacking Hamas targets during the operation.
The tunnel had been under development for “a long time” and that work on it was ongoing in recent days, outgoing commander of the Gaza Division Brig.-Gen. Nimrod Aloni told reporters.
