UKHSA: Britain will proceed new way to tackle the virus on Monday

After announcing the first case on May 7, in the UK, a patient who had traveled to Nigeria and then to Europe and North America has also spread the same disease.

Monkeypox can be transmitted through contact with skin lesions and droplets of a contaminated person, as well as shared items such as bedding and towels.

Britain has been infected with the rare monkeypox virus day-to-day basis that is not related to any travel to West Africa, where the disease is initially reported, a health official said on Sunday. After registering 20 cases on Friday the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) said a new procedure would be released to tackle the virus on Monday.

“We are finding cases that have no identified contact with an individual from West Africa, which is what we’ve seen previously in this country,” UKHSA chief medical adviser Susan Hopkins said.

Yet, there is no particular treatment for the monkeypox but vaccination against smallpox has been found about 85 percent effective in preventing the disease.

Early symptoms will likely to have a fever, muscle aches, swollen lymph nodes, chills, exhaustion, and a chickenpox-like rash on the hands and face. They usually clear up after two to four weeks.

UK government had already started buying up types of equipment for the smallpox vaccine as it worked to prevent monkeypox, said Education Secretary Nadhim Zahawi.
