BREAKING NEWS: On Thursday night, the under-construction tunnel collapsed approximately 30 to 40 meters in parts of the tunnel, at Khoni Nallah on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway in Ramban district during an audit, which leaves four people injured and several others trapped said the officers.
The front side of the tunnel collapse bothered the rescue operations as the stones were falling off on their way during the police and the army had just undertaken processes of rescuing.
Ramban Deputy Commissioner Massaratul Islam and Senior Superintendent of Police Mohita Sharma were at the spot supervising the rescue operation.
Parked nearly the front side of the tunnel machines and several vehicles suffered damage due to the tunnel collapsing, said the police.
Those who were trapped inside the tunnel were identified as Jadav Roy, 23, Gautam Roy, 22, Sudhir Roy, 31, Depak Roy, 33, Parimal Roy 38, Shiva Chowhan, 26, Nawaraj Chowdhury, 26, Kushi Ram, 25, Mujaffar,38, and Israt,30.
A joint operation has been working to retrieve the trapped victims from a part of an under-construction tunnel that collapsed.
