The South Korean military reported that North Korea launched two ballistic missiles off its east coast on Thursday, following the launch of two short-range ballistic missiles the day before and one on Sunday.
“Between 8:48 and 8:57 p.m., the South Korean military discovered two short-range ballistic missiles launched from Sunchon, South Pyongan province, toward the east coast. While cooperating closely with the U.S., our military maintains full readiness amidst increased surveillance and vigilance “said the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
The launch took place as South Korea was being harshly criticized by U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris, who was in the country for a state visit.
Regarding the missiles’ range, height, and speed, the military withheld specifics.
The North is reportedly planning its upcoming nuclear test, which would be its first since 2017 and its eighth since 2006. This has South Korea and its allies worried. The North has finished making ready for a nuclear test, and South Korean lawmakers informed by the nation’s spy agency stated on Wednesday that a potential window for conducting it may be between October 16 and November 7.
