West Bengal’s health department revealed the state’s first case of Omicron after a 7-year-old boy tested positive for the new coronavirus variant.
The boy arrived in Bengal from Abu Dhabi via Hyderabad, according to the official. He is being treated in a nearby Murshidabad hospital. According to reports, both of his parents tested negative.
Two foreign nationals in Telangana’s Hyderabad had tested positive for the Omicron variant earlier in the day, according to a state health official. The first is a 24-year-old Kenyan national who arrived on December 12, while the second is a 23-year-old Somalian guy, according to Telangana’s director of public health, G Srinivasa Rao.
Both are asymptomatic, however, during genome sequencing, the two people were diagnosed with Omicron infection. There are now three cases in Telangana. The Omicron variety, which first appeared in November 2021 in South Africa, has progressively spread to other sections of the country.
Cases have increased in European countries, including the United Kingdom, and are projected to become dominant by the end of next month, according to specialists. The Indian government, however, has stated that the new variation may not be as dangerous in the country because the Delta strain has already infected the majority of citizens.
