After two weeks of political unrest in Maharashtra, the Eknath Shinde government easily reached the majority-mark on Monday, winning the trust vote. Shiv Sena’s Uddhav Thackeray faction, in the meantime, filed a new plea with the Supreme Court on Monday contesting Rahul Narwekar’s decision to recognise Team Shinde as the party’s new whip.
On Monday, the Shiv Sena Uddhav Thackeray group filed a new petition with the Supreme Court contesting the decision of the newly elected speaker of the legislature to recognise a new party whip.
A day after Rahul Nawrekar, a rookie MLA for the BJP, was chosen as speaker, the floor test was held. Even though Uddhav Thackeray had taken action against Shinde the week before, he reinstalled him as the leader of the parliamentary party hours after winning the election.
Shiv Sena is in increasing trouble as a result of the plea to suspend 16 of the party’s MLAs for violating party whip that was delivered to the assembly speaker on Monday morning by the Shinde faction’s new chief whip. According to the Speaker’s office, the 16 MLAs would receive notice of suspension, according to news agency ANI.
