Yasin Malik gets life imprisonment in terror funding case

In a terror funding case, a Delhi court sentenced Kashmiri separatist leader Yasin Malik to life in prison on Wednesday. Malik had previously pleaded guilty to all charges, including those brought under the federal Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA).

The NIA has asked a Delhi court to sentence the Kashmiri separatist to death. In an in-chamber hearing, the CIA told Special Judge Praveen Singh that Malik was to blame for the Kashmiri migration.

Meanwhile, Malik has stated that if Indian intelligence can prove that he has been involved in any terrorist action or bloodshed in the past 28 years, he will step down from politics and accept the death penalty.

The judge, on the other hand, stated that since he had already been convicted, there was no purpose in arguing about the facts of the case because he had already been given the chance.

The court had reserved its order after hearing the arguments and will issue it later today.

On May 10, Malik told the court that he would not contest the charges, which included sections 16 (terrorist act), 17 (raising funds for a terrorist act), 18 (conspiracy to commit a terrorist act), and 20 (member of a terrorist gang or organization) of the UAPA, as well as sections 120-B (criminal conspiracy) and 124-A (sedition) of the IPC.
