Aimee Baruah, an actress-turned-filmmaker, made her Cannes debut this year. Baruah thrilled the crowd on the red carpet, making history as the first Assamese actor to walk the Cannes red carpet.
The first-ever Dimasa language film, Semkhor, directed by Baruah, garnered positive reviews at the 75th Cannes Film Festival.
“It has been an incredible experience being a part of the famous 75th #CannesFilmFestival,” Baruah posted on Twitter. The amount of interest and appreciation produced by “Semkhor” has been incredible. It’s been a tremendous honor for me, my homeland in the North East, and my country, India.”

The actress draws attention as she walks the Cannes red carpet with a classic mekhela chador. Her mekhela chador was combined with striking jewelry that caught everyone’s notice! To appear more natural, Baruah chose open side-parted hair, a nude lip, and minimum glam makeup. She wore a full-sleeve blouse with a plunging neckline.
