6 days after its border clash with Meghalaya, Assam lifts its travel restrictions

Assam had imposed restrictions on Assam cars to enter Meghalaya's disputed territories after reports of Assam vehicles setting ablaze in Meghalaya following the tension that followed the firing incident in West Karbi Anglong on November 22 and killed six individuals.
However, six days after being put in place as a result of unrest in a contentious area along the interstate boundary, Assam on Sunday lifted travel restrictions to Meghalaya, according to the police.
According to a senior police officer, Assam vehicles are now permitted to enter Meghalaya.

"Vehicles are being escorted wherever necessary. Police patrols have been put in place in other sensitive places, "He said.

Following the incident, the Assam Police asked citizens to refrain from visiting the neighbouring state in a caution. After a truck believed to be carrying illegally cut timber was stopped by forest guards from Assam, violence broke out at Mukroh village near the disputed border between the two states in the early hours of Tuesday, 22 November. Six people were killed as a result of the clashes, including five tribal villagers from Meghalaya and a forest guard from Assam.
