Fighting for the first time since july-2019,British boxer Amir Khan proposed his retirement after being defeated by lightweight champion Kell Brook. The 35-year-old British Boxer was outclassed from the beginning with an extensive show of jabs that gave him no chance to retaliate.
Amir Khan refused to buckle and stayed upright throughout, but he was heavily marked by a series of vicious blows. Referee Victor Loughlin stepped in after 51 seconds of the 6th round to call off the fight.
After a tough and damaging defeat, Amir Khan is muling about the idea of retiring. Fighting at the venue where he won his first world title in 2009,Khan only showed flashes of his previous form, which was more than a decade prior.
Amir Khan is giving strong consideration to retirement after being defeated by Kell Brook, who won silver as a lightweight at the Athens Olympics in 2004 and is a former unified light-welterweight champion.
“It’s something to think about, definitely,” he told reporters when asked about how sure he was of continuing his fight career. “I’ve always said I never want boxing to retire me, I want to retire from boxing.”
“I’ve done more than I ever expected. Maybe I peaked too early, I was at the Olympics at 17, I won the world title at 22. I’m 35 now, I’ve been in the game a very long time, I’m an old man. I want to spend time with my kids and my family.”
