On Saturday, there was an explosion on the grounds of a police station in the Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh, according to the police. The explosion happened when some explosive material kept on the grounds of the Gangadhara Nellore police station exploded early one morning. A police officer received minor injuries.
The seized explosives reportedly went off unexpectedly early on Saturday morning, according to authorities. People in the vicinity became alarmed by the loud explosion and fire. The fire destroyed a car and several two-wheelers that had been confiscated in other cases. The event also resulted in damage to the doors and windows of nearby houses as well as the police station itself.
No lives were lost as a result of the explosion. One of the police officers stationed there sustained minor wounds. Senior police officers dropped by the station. The reason of the explosion is the subject of an investigation, according to an officer.
