Assam Floods Kills 3, Over 57000 Affected, Several Missing; IAF Rescue Operation Begins
Floods and landslides have occurred in Assam due to heavy rains. The current floods have impacted approximately 57,000 people, with three persons dead in the northeastern state. Cachar district is where all three deaths were reported. Floods have been reported in Cachar, Dhemaji, Hojai, Karbi Anglong West, Kamrup (M), Nagaon, and Nalbari.
According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), the continuous rain has affected 222 villages. 138 villages in Cachar, Dhemaji 2, Hojai 34, Karbi Anglong West 5, Nagaon 39, and Nalbari 4 have been affected.
The flood situation in the Cachar district of the state remains dire. Three individuals, including a kid, are missing, according to the state disaster management authority. According to ANI, the State Disaster Response Force, fire department, and emergency services are among those involved in the rescue efforts.
The floods have affected nearly 222 villages and 10321 people in 15 revenue circles. According to an ANI report, 44 hectares of cultivated land are still flooded. Thousands of animals have been affected by the flood in the state. In addition, more than 200 dwellings and settlements have been recorded as damaged.
Due to huge landslides and water, some people were stranded at the Ditokcherra railway station. The Indian Air Force flew 119 individuals to Silchar, while others were rescued in the Badarpur and Silchar districts.
