Assam to observe 31 March as student day from now on
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma made the announcement that March 31 will now be recognised as Chatra Divas, or Students’ Day, during his visit at Kokrajhar district.
The state government would now take steps to recognise March 31 as Chatra Divas every year, according to CM Sarma.
The Assam CM in Kokrajhar paid tributes to Bodofa Upendranath Brahma at his burial ground at Thulungapuri in Dotoma.
CM Sarma also laid the cornerstone for the burial ground’s infrastructure improvements, which would cost Rs 10 crores to complete.
He tweeted that he was joined by Pramod Boro, the head of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), as well as other cabinet members, MLAs, and BTC executive members.
The government has chosen to recognise the Bodo leader’s birthday on March 31 as Students’ Day in his honour, the CM said.
