When a guy fired shots from his pistol during a fight on New Link Road in Kandivali West late on Friday night, a 26-year-old man was killed and a 37-year-old man was critically injured.
A murder investigation has been opened by the police against two alleged suspects. According to the police, the complainant, Dinkar Pal, works for a stockbroking company in Kandivali East, while the accused and the victim dwell in Irani Wadi in Kandivali West.
According to a police officer from Kandivali police station, “Pal got a call from Umesh Yadav while he was returning from Mahalaxmi Temple that Naseer Shaikh, who lives in their neighborhood, had been assaulted by Sonu Paswan and Suraj Gupta and that the attackers were asking about the whereabouts of one Anil Yadav aka Motu, a friend of Shaikh.
Pal later contacted Shaikh and his family and requested that they report Paswan and Gupta to the police at the Kandivali police station. A police officer reported that Paswan and Gupta arrived on a scooter and approached them as Shaikh was about to finish speaking.
Paswan dismounted the motorcycle and began to pursue Pal as he made his way towards a Kandivali police beat chowki that was close by. Pal proceeded to move toward the nearby police chowki in order to avoid a fight with Paswan and to obtain some police protection as Paswan began to converse with him. Paswan was grabbed by Ankit Yadav, Avinash Dabholkar, and Pal when he was still trailing Pal. Pal later seized Paswan and flung him to the ground.
“As he lay on the ground, the revolver dropped from his pocket, and when they all saw it, they all ran away. Then Paswan began verbally harassing them and fired at them. Ankit Yadav was struck in the stomach by one of the bullets, while Dabholkar, a Shaikh relative, was struck in the right shoulder by the other bullet. Two others who were strolling along the road were also struck by the bullet splinters, the police officer added, and they only sustained minor leg injuries.
While Dabholkar is in critical condition, Yadav, who works with Pal and was with him only because they were going to the Mahalaxmi shrine, was pronounced dead upon arrival at the Shatabdi Hospital, according to the police.
Paswan, who had fled to Gujarat, has been captured by Unit XI’s Mumbai crime branch team. Despite the fact that both Pal and Paswan live in Irani Wadi, the police claimed Yadav had nothing to do with their altercation. He was just with Pal, though, and was killed as a result.
